The Liu lab aims to explore the biosynthesis and function of supramolecular systems, in particular, protein assemblies, biological membranes and energetic machinery, by applying and developing interdisciplinary approaches. The long-term goal is to understand the molecular principles of the development of self-assembling biological systems, and apply the knowledge to underpin the engineering of functional biological machineries and promote the development of biotechnology.
